Selfless Squire + Wheel of Misfortune
Produces: Infinite +1/+1 counters on a creature
- Selfless Squire
- Wheel of Misfortune
- Color identity
- RW
- Mana
- {5}{R}{W}
Steps
- Cast Selfless Squire by paying {3}{W}.
- When Selfless Squire enters the battlefield, its first ability triggers, preventing all damage that would be dealt to you this turn.
- Cast Wheel of Misfortune by paying {2}{R}, selecting an arbitrarily large number, and dealing that much damage to you if you chose the largest number, which is prevented due to Selfless Squire.
- Selfless Squire's second ability triggers, putting a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to the damage prevented.
- If you didn't choose the largest number, Wheel of Misfortune deals damage equal to that number to each opponent who chose that number.
How to execute this combo
The "Selfless Squire + Wheel of Misfortune" combo takes 5 steps in order. Make sure you have the mana open and permanents listed in the prerequisites before you start — opponents can respond between steps.
The end result: Infinite +1/+1 counters on a creature.
Practice the line offline: lay out the cards, walk through each step, and note where you can lose the combo (summoning sickness, lack of priority, removal on a key permanent). In game, announce each step clearly; in casual play you can offer to shortcut after demonstrating the loop.
The best window is a turn when opponents are tapped out or after they commit a spell — hold protection (a counter, Vexing Shusher) if the combo wins on the spot.
