Prerequisites

Your life total is at least ten. Your devotion to black is at least ten or you have at least two opponents.

Steps

  1. Activate Dimir House Guard by sacrificing Gray Merchant, regenerating it the next time it would die this turn.
  2. Activate Chainer by paying nine life, returning Gray Merchant from your graveyard to the battlefield as a Nightmare in addition to its other creature types.
  3. Gray Merchant enters the battlefield, causing each opponent to lose life equal to your devotion to black and causing you to gain life equal to the amount of life lost this way.
  4. Repeat.

How to execute this combo

The "Chainer, Dementia Master + K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth + Gray Merchant of Asphodel + Dimir House Guard" combo takes 4 steps in order. Make sure you have the mana open and permanents listed in the prerequisites before you start — opponents can respond between steps.

The end result: Infinite death triggers, Infinite ETB, Infinite lifegain, Infinite lifegain triggers, Infinite lifeloss, Infinite LTB, Infinite sacrifice triggers, Return all creature cards from all graveyards to the battlefield under your control.

Practice the line offline: lay out the cards, walk through each step, and note where you can lose the combo (summoning sickness, lack of priority, removal on a key permanent). In game, announce each step clearly; in casual play you can offer to shortcut after demonstrating the loop.

The best window is a turn when opponents are tapped out or after they commit a spell — hold protection (a counter, Vexing Shusher) if the combo wins on the spot.
